Having previous experience of looking after children with autism would be an advantage however, a can-do attitude and commitment to the children and your team is equally as important as full training will be given.

 

Role

The role is to care for our children on a daily basis and ensure all their needs are met. We focus on care and education 24/7 at the school. Instead of teaching our children in classrooms learning for our children takes place via activities. There is no typical day at Loddon as every day is different so if you are looking for a new and exciting challenge this is the place for you!

Activities could range from a long walk through the country or meeting our animals at our very own farm. You could be taking part in a swimming lesson at our pool or you might be having an art or music lesson outside in our vast grounds.

Shift Pattern (7.30am – 8pm / 11.30am – 10pm)

Week 1 – Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Week 2 – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (7.30am-11.30am)

* You will have the opportunity to earn an additional £77.05 per sleep in.

Training 

Your first four weeks at Loddon aim to give you the best opportunity to learn hands on, how to do your role to the highest standards. You would spend 2 weeks shadowing a member of staff, and then the following 2 weeks you will take the lead supporting and have the member of staff shadowing you. You will also receive induction training for 4x Thursdays throughout your first month from the internal training team.

 

Development

At Loddon, we are passionate about staff development and progression. If you are not qualified to the equivalent of a Level 3 Residential Childcare Diploma, we would enrol you once you have completed your 3-month probation with the support of our dedicated internal training department.

Throughout your career at Loddon, you will continuously receive training and support to help you develop within the school. Whether this be to undertake a QTS, a Team Leading Qualification or various Level 2 funded courses related to the work you do.

Night Learning & Care Support Assistant

The Loddon School are looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about providing the highest standards of care and facilitating opportunities for learning for our wonderful children. Having previous experience of looking after children with autism would be an advantage however, a can-do attitude and commitment to the children and your team is equally as important as full training will be given.

 

Main duties & responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the safety of the children throughout the night and adhering to school’s policies, procedures, and the children’s guidelines.
  • Carry out regular checks on the children throughout the night, record and pass on to the on-call Night Leader.
  • Undertaking personal tasks when necessary, including toileting assistance, washing, and dressing whilst providing a high level of care at all times.
  • Attend mandatory training courses and other recommended training for career development
  • Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with the children, parents, work colleagues and external professional
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours to ensure that planned activities take place with adequate staffing and supervision.
  • Support with domestic duties

 

Shift Pattern (1 in 2 weekends)

  • 3x nights per week, 7.30pm – 7.45am

There is also an expectation to attend training days once a month

Teaching Assistant (fixed term)

An exciting opportunity has come up to work closely to support education and care colleagues in promoting and maintaining an environment for the children consistent with the highest standards of education, care and wellbeing and achievements of the children.

The role involves supporting the teacher, running lessons in their absence, motivating others in terms of education activities, recording data and a good level of literacy.

You will be passionate about teaching, facilitating daily activities and contributing new and creative ideas to help the children learn. You will be knowledgeable on all safeguarding protocol and be a role model to others.

Teaching experience within a similar setting would be desirable.

Hours

Monday – Friday

37.5 hours per week

8.30am-4.30pm

Assistant Cook

The Loddon School are recruiting for an enthusiastic and committed Assistant Cook, to assist the Catering Manager to prepare, cook and serve daily meals for children and staff.

 

The school is home to 28 children with severe autism and complex learning difficulties which is associated with complex restrictive behaviours. Previous experience working with SEN pupils and school staff would be desirable, however a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn is equally as important as training is provided.

 

Main Duties

  • Support the Catering Manager with purchasing products for the kitchen, placing food orders, menu planning and record accordingly
  • Prepare, cook and serve daily meals for children and staff.
  • To monitor the children’s diets and follow their guidelines at all times
  • Ensure the kitchen is safe and hygienic and that the Health & Safety and Food Hygiene Regulations are complied with
  • Monitor and rotate all stock supplied, regular checks on all frozen, cooked and fresh goods, and to manage food waste.
  • Attend training courses as required

 

Hours of work

The hours will be varied from 7am to 6pm

Full time – 162.5 hours per month. Working on a varied shift pattern, along with some weekends.

 

Qualifications

  • Level 1 Certificate in Food Preparation and Cooking
  • Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering / Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Cater Principles / Food Production and Cooking Services

 

Previous Experience

  • Providing fresh and healthy means on a daily basis, in a school environment
  • Planning menus according to a fixed budget, whilst following nutrition guidelines
  • Working with a team of catering staff
