Support Worker – Nights

About the role:

You will be supporting their independence with household tasks and personal care, you may also be taking part in evening tasks which would involve calming activities such as movie night or reading a book.

 

Main duties & responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the safety of the children throughout the night and adhering to school’s policies, procedures and the children’s guidelines.
  • Carry out regular checks on the children throughout the night, record and pass on to the on-call Night Leader.
  • Attend mandatory training courses and other recommended training for career development
  • Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with the children, parents, work colleagues and external professional
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours to ensure that planned activities take place with adequate staffing and supervision.
  • Support with domestic duties

 

Hours:

There is the opportunity to work 2, 3 or 4 nights per week between the hours of 9.00pm – 7.45am including a 1 hour unpaid break.

Training:

Your first four weeks at Loddon aim to give you the best opportunity to learn hands on, how to do your role to the highest standard. You would spend 2/4 weeks working on days shadowing a member of staff. You will also receive induction training for 4x Thursdays throughout your first month from the internal training team. During this time, if you have built a strong relationship with the children we would then move you on to nights.

If there is restrictions to you working days during your training period, reasonable adjustments can be put in place to accommodate this.

 

Development:

At Loddon, we are passionate about staff development and progression. If you are not qualified to the equivalent of a Level 3 Residential Childcare Diploma, we would enrol you once you have completed your 3-month probation with the support of our dedicated internal training department.

Weekend Support Worker

We have part time vacancies for those seeking flexible work in Care who cannot commit to a full-time role.

Support Worker – Days

The role is to care for our children on a daily basis and ensure all their needs are met. We focus on care and education 24/7 at the school. Instead of teaching our children in classrooms, learning for our children takes place via activities. There is no typical day at Loddon as every day is different.

You will be supporting their independence with household tasks and personal care. Activities could range from a long walk through the countryside or meeting our animals at our very own farm. You could be taking part in a swimming lesson at our pool, or you might be having an art or music lesson outside in our vast grounds. Depending on the shift patterns, you may also be taking part in evening tasks which would involve calming activities such as movie night or reading a book.

Part-time Support Worker (15-25 hours)

Assistant Cook

The Loddon School is recruiting for a positive, enthusiastic and committed Assistant Cook, to assist the Catering Manager to prepare, cook and serve daily meals for children and staff.

The school is home to 30 children with severe autism and complex learning difficulties which is associated with complex restrictive behaviours. Previous experience working within a similar catering environment would be desirable, however a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn is equally as important as training is provided.

 

The role:

· Support the Catering Manager to provide healthy balanced meals for the children, and staff.

· Place food orders, create and plan menu’s

· Monitor the children’s diets and follow their guidelines at all times

· Follow Food Hygiene Regulations

· Monitor and rotate stock supplied, manage and reduce food waste

· Ensure the kitchen is a safe and hygienic environment

 

Hours of work:

The hours will be varied from 7am to 6pm

7am – 3pm / 9am – 5pm / 10am-6pm

 

Qualifications

· Level 1 Certificate in Food Preparation and Cooking

· Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering / Food Hygiene Certificate

· Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Cater Principles / Food Production and Cooking Services

 

Salary: 

The salary range for this post is £18,572 – £20,810.

Housekeeping Assistant

Role

The role of the Housekeeping Assistant will be to provide an efficient and effective cleaning and support service to designated areas of the School. This includes, vacuuming carpets and upholstery, dusting, control mopping of hard surface flooring, machine buffing, cleaning of toilets, sinks, baths, showers, and also the cleaning of bodily fluids from all surfaces, as dictated by local procedures. Emptying waste bins, and ensuring the safe and correct disposal of waste (including clinical waste) in accordance with School Policies on Waste and Infection Control. Carrying out housekeeping duties as well as laundry and wash-up duties.

Hours

There is 2x full time permanent positions which is 5 days per week, to include weekends.

There is also a part time fixed term position which is 3 days per week, to include weekends.

Hours are between 8.30am – 4.30pm.

Previous experience of cleaning in a care or education setting or previous experience working with chemicals & cleaning products is desirable.
