Loddon School always takes an active part in this international day to promote learning through books and stories. This year Loddon students took part in finger puppet and hand puppet stories and massage stories. There is always a Loddon book stall and each child is able to come and chose a book. In the afternoon we had a touring theatre come and give a performance of The Gingerbread Man.
During an Indian fun week students did a lot of craft activities and attempted Bollywood dancing. However they really enjoyed the dressing up with staff in the style of an Indian wedding. They also enjoyed tasting different snacks at our Indian café session.
Students had fun celebrating the beginning of the Chinese Year of the Sheep/Goat. They made Chinese lanterns and hats, which helped to decorate the Leisure Barn for their Chinese New Year party.
Once a month some of our older youngsters join up with the Basingstoke Ramblers club. We usually walk between 3 and 4 miles. This is not only good exercise for all, but is an opportunity for our students to mix with members of the public on a regular basis.
A few of the students were able to access the relaxed performance of Cinderella at The Anvil Theatre Basingstoke. One of our students had worked hard all year at visiting new places and this year managed to sit in the main auditorium with everyone else. They enjoyed drinks and ice creams in the interval and afterwards met with the actors to have their photos taken.
